Every program that represents the Pioneer League has importance to the league. Every program that enters under the shield is a program that like the torch it displays shows the pathfinders in youth football in this area who are committed to making the city a recognized area of quality football. These programs are the embodiment of the league and now the league hangs one more banner of major significance as the Eagle Academy for young men have officially signed on to compete in the PFL. The significance of this? This makes the PFL the only youth league with aprogram that is funded by a public school and what makes this case extra special is that the PFL was choosen to develop the Academy team for future play in the NYC Public School Athletic League.
Eagle Academy plans to develop into a PSAL program in 2013 or 2014 and will transition out of the PFL at that time. This presents a unique opportunity to PFL youth teams as it creates a pipeline that helps the PFL be a powerhouse both on the field and in the classroom.
